My Story

Tushita is a Bhangra and Bollywood Dancer and Choreographer based in New York City. She originally began her dance journey through her college dance team, the Vanderbilt BhangraDores, where she was first exposed to Bhangra as a dance form. Looking for a community to call home during her four years in college, she instantly connected with the Bhangra team. Tushita went on to captain the team for two years and helped lead the team to many victories at various competitions around the nation. She also directed Nashville’s premier Bhangra competition, Nachde Nashville, for two years.

After graduating in 2018, Tushita found herself an opportunity to move to New York City. She quickly found herself integrating with the South Asian dance community by joining an alumni bhangra team called Bhangra Theory and by taking South Asian dance classes. With a leap of faith, she started teaching her own Bhangra Fusion classes in 2019. Tushita combines her love for Bollywood and Fusion styles with her knowledge and passion for Bhangra to create Bhangra Fusion routines as an attempt to continue spreading Bhangra to the South Asian dance community.

Since then, Tushita has been able to create a safe space for dancers of all backgrounds to learn new choreographies while encouraging students to step out of their comfort zones. She also traveled to Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and Chicago to teach Bhangra Fusion classes across the country. Tushita continues to teach classes regularly in New York City and also aspires to empower women by sharing her fitness journey.
